Q-SPD 4 Surface Drive – High-Performance Integrated Marine Propulsion
The QSD4 Series is a versatile, user-friendly, high-performance marine propulsion system designed for larger vessels up to 30 metres, supporting engine outputs of more than 3,000hp per unit. As a fully integrated propulsion solution, the QSD4 delivers exceptional reliability with extremely low maintenance requirements, making it ideal for high-powered recreational yachts, patrol boats, and commercial craft. Engineered as a complete bolt-on assembly, it incorporates the driveline, thrust bearing, propeller, rudders, steering links, and exhaust system, enabling faster and simpler installation compared to traditional conventional propulsion systems.
Transom-mounted for maximum design flexibility, the QSD4 allows engines to be positioned further aft, eliminating the need for V-drive gearboxes and freeing valuable midships space for accommodation or operational use. Shorter and more efficient engineering runs reduce installation time and overall build costs. The carbon fibre and E-glass composite monocoque body is precision-built using advanced resin infusion techniques, creating a lightweight yet incredibly strong structure. All mechanical components are manufactured from marine-grade materials, including NIBRAL and stainless steel, ensuring durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance in demanding marine environments.
All critical mechanical elements are positioned safely inboard to protect them from exposure to harsh conditions. The oil-lubricated thrust bearing is water-cooled for enhanced longevity, and exhaust provisions are integrated across all models, with optional flange fittings available. Each QSD4 drive is supplied with an intermediate shaft, a Q-SPD specified custom-designed propeller, and matched power steering, delivering a complete, optimised propulsion package. Steering is achieved via a convenient inboard-mounted tiller and can integrate with any conventional marine steering system. Builders may opt for a fully integrated steering solution from Q-Marine or select their preferred system to suit the vessel’s wider onboard configuration.
The QSD4 Series is available in two base models: the QSD402 and QSD450, offering flexible, high-performance propulsion solutions tailored to the demands of modern high-powered vessels.
