Optimus 360

Cheetah Marine Catamaran

First Optimus 360 installation

Apr 19, 2013

The first Optimus 360 steering system has been fitted outside the USA by Hypro Marine to a Cheetah Marine Catamaran.

The new system that provides precise 360 degree manoeuvrability for twin powered outboards, along with sideways movement with the aid of a joystick control has been fitted with the assistance of the Chief Project Engineer, Dave Higgs and Shane De Witt, Product Manager from SeaStar Solutions (formally Teleflex) who flew over from Canada especially for this installation.

The Optimus 360 system has been fitted to a 9m Cheetah boat with a pair of Honda 115hp outboards. The engines independently move depending on the position the joystick is controlled along with the throttle and shift allowing the boat to be steered in any direction at any angle without the need for bow thrusters.

For more details regarding the Cheetah Marine boat please look on their website www.cheetahmarine.co.uk.

We will have a stand at Seaworks with an Optimus 360 display and the Cheetah Marine boat will be in the water to show fully how the system works.
